Ladies and Gentlemen it is with a heavy heart that I inform you of this unfortunate circumstance regarding Supersister. I will pass on to you what the band has communicated to me...

Due to the unexpected illness of Ron van Eck, Supersister regretfully have
announced that they will be unable to appear at NEARfest this year. Ron has had
to undergo a course of chemotherapy treatment for cancer. His prognosis is
optimistic, but the members of the band feel that Ron's presence and well
being is vital to any Supersister performance and regretfully have had to make
this decision. The band apologise to all of their fans in America who were
looking forward to seeing the band perform once more and hope to visit NEARfest
as soon as the health of Ron allows it.

All of us at NEARfest are behind Ron 100% and we hope to have Supersister grace our stage in the future.

Now the good news is that we have a great band stepping in to fill the void left by the departure of Supersister.

Coming to us from Sweden, Trettioariga Kriget, will be filling the hall at Zoellner with their music. The band formed in 1970 while still in high school and soon rolled out to meet the rest of Sweden. From there the rest of the world. Well now we welcome them to the stage at NEARfest. We could not be more excited to welcome them to the stage!

Not often that I get the scoop before the band does
Although I'm in no way able to get to NEARfest (damn..how many bands I already missed..) at least most of the NEARfest gigs are/were recorded for either CD or DVD.

This could mean a great opportunity for the band to gain some overseas recognition!
